As promised, here's the outfit I wore to my friend's wedding on Saturday!  This was my first winter wedding and I wasn't quite sure what to wear.  I felt like long sleeves would be appropriate but I was afraid I would be too hot.  I wasn't sure if I should wear black or nude tights etc.  I was between a couple dresses and tried them on and took pictures (first picture above is my "trial" shot- no makeup so I cropped my head haha).  I ultimately decided on this French Connection dress because the sleeves are long but the fabric is really light-weight and it worked out perfectly. 
I got this purse for another wedding I went to in September, I have all these tiny clutches and evening bags and while they are beautiful I feel like I can never fit everything in them.  I also like to try to bring flip-flops or flats to wear at the end of the night.  This clutch is actually an iPad purse thing that I found so it's definitely big enough!

This past weekend one of my best friends from optometry school got married down my Philly!  I drove down Saturday morning and this is what I wore.  I wasn't sold on the whole camo trend but I had seen these pants at the Gap and they were on the lighter side so I thought I'd give them a try (plus I had a coupon, duh)... I got them a few months ago but this is the first time I wore them.  I was still on the fence but I like how they came out in the pictures, plus they were super comfortable for the whole drive.  What do you guys think, is this a trend you would try?

I felt like I was wearing a lot of black lately (easy to do in the winter months!) so I tried this combo and I really like it!  It's still winter colors but somehow seems a little "happier" to me haha.

I wore this last week on a day when it was freeeeeezing outside!  I just had that "I want to be warm" feeling, so I pulled out this long sweatshirt type thing and at first I said to myself that it was too casual for work.  Then I put on the bow belt and voila! a little more work appropriate (although there's no disguising that it's a sweatshirt, I realize that ;)).
Unfortunately, this belt is sold out on ASOS but if you just search for "bow belt" that have a lot of others to choose from!

Lace

Outfit Breakdown:

I wore this outfit earlier this week.  I got this skirt back in the fall, I liked that the length was a little below the knee and I thought it would be good for work.  I put it in my closet and it got lost in the mess, and this was the first time I wore it!!  Do you ever lose clothes in your closet or drawers?  I hope I'm not the only one.
Anyway, the length was great but what I didn't realize is that there's really no "give" to this lace material.  I realized this as I was trying to get in the car that morning and couldn't.  I had to kind of shimmy butt first into the driver seat.  It made for a somewhat complicated work day... but I got a lot of complements, and that's really all that matters, right??

I got these Hunter boots last year for those slushy/snowy days and they work great!  They look cute, and keep the feet dry... what more could you ask for.  As I've mentioned before on this blog, I have "wide calfs" and most boots don't fit me.  I was happy to see that Hunter makes a boot for just such a person, called the Huntress (this is what I'm wearing).  If you have trouble with wellies and can't find a good fit, try these!!

This is an outfit I wore out last weekend, it's a little bit of a departure from my normal style but that's the fun of playing around with fashion!  One of my current style icons is Olivia Palermo.  I really like her easy effortless mix of prints and colors and she always looks stylish and put-together.  I saw a picture of her last year in a white blazer with black lapels and I knew I had to have one!  I put it on my Christmas List and my sister gave me this lovely blazer.  I LOVE it!  I definitely want to try it how Olivia styled it but that will have to wait for spring ;)  

I also got these motorcycle style boots from Steve Madden a month or so ago and I wasn't sure if they were really me or how I would style them.  But I like that they are easy to wear and make a statement.  I was walking around NYC in them and no issues!

I really need to start taking the rubber band off my wrist when I take pictures... definitely not the nicest look!  I always forget it's there, it's just a part of my body at this point ;)  I get annoyed by my hair at work so around lunchtime it always goes up in some fashion.  So, if you see a RB every now and again, just ignore it?  Great, thanks.

Hey everyone, this is an outfit I wore last week to run errands, the main errand was to get my license renewed... how awful do those pictures come out??  You aren't allowed to smile anymore (with teeth) so you can either look like you want to kill someone or you can smirk.  I went with the smirk.

Today I'm home sick, I've been fighting off this sore throat for like five days now and yesterday I started losing my voice.  I sound ridiculous and I knew I wouldn't be able to talk to patients all day... so off to the doctor I go!

Saturday I turned 29... last year in my twenties.  It was kind of harder than I thought.  I have really liked my late twenties, I feel like I've become more myself.  I've gotten settled in my career.  I feel comfortable in my skin!  So I've decided to enjoy this last year because it was starting to get me down!  

Anyway, on to the outfits.  The first is what I wore to work in the morning (yea I work Saturdays boo, but only the mornings!).  I came home and had a relaxing day with my family and then we went to dinner at Maggiano's and changed into the second outfit!  My parents got me the jeans and my mom picked them out herself :)  The dinner was awesome and then we came home for ice-cream cake, my fav.  Hope you all had a great weekend!

Sometimes it's scary to mix patterns, but strips can almost act like a neutral.  Start small with shoes or accessories like a scarf.  It's easier to mix similar color palettes and smaller prints!

I always forget to wear a scarf, but it really does add something to an outfit, plus it keeps your neck warm!  I got this scarf as a Christmas present from my aunt and it's so pretty.  It has lots of colors and metallics so it will go well with many outfits.
